Surprise it's a posi!

So I was changing the diff fluid and to my surprise I have what looks like an Eaton rear end, four yellow springs in the middle. It's not on my spid and there was no metal tag or sticker. PO might have added it but idunno. 1971 GMC lwb 350 leaf rear 5 lug

I have the same truck, drove it this week in 12in of snow for the first time ! We'll guess what ? I think I got a posi out back too ? Will check when it get warm again !

It used to be that the posi units took a different oil than the non posi units. There was actually a tag that stated "use positive trackion fluid only". I know that last year I still had to use posi fluid in my Cobra Replica. Stock F**D 8.8 with 411 gears.

The Mobil 1 I filled it with says good for no slip applications. Eaton recommends dino with GM additive which I have on the way from Summit in case it starts to chatter.

That's very good news indeed!

Locking dif's are IMO an absolute necessity in these old trucks.
