check out the link in my signature. It has all the information on circuit and parts and a lot of answer to my questions during the design proces. The parts on the back are for "voltage regulation" and thus "current control". Your car will make anything from 12V to well over 14V. If you want your leds to last, you will need to control the current flowing through them.
