I pulled the original cab off the frame today. Here are a couple of pics of the "parts pile". The cab in this pic is the one I am getting rid of. I hope soon because I don't really have the space for it.

A local guy wanted the dash out of the old cab and I took the roof off. I gave him the lower half and he may use some other sections out of it. Nice to have it out of my hair.

I stripped it and saved everything. I probably won't sell any extra parts till I get through my build. A lot of the stuff I needed as I only bought a bare replacement cab.

darn... if u even come across a good firewall and front cab supports let me know!!! will pay a fair price.

Good progress this weekend. After getting the old HW off yesterday, I got the new front end separated from the frame clip this morning and kept and bagged all of the HW. This afternoon I started prepping the frame for the new crossmember and other coming modifications. I stipped the reusable old parts off the '64 crossmember and hauled the rest to the scrap heap.

No major rust but most of them have some rust, even here in AZ and this one is included. The rockers and floors need some work. Roof is extremely clean which is nice. Lower front fenders and channel that mounts behind it need to be patched as well.

Thanks for posting your build. I do not know if you have seen the thread below but he installed a 5-speed behind an I6 230 ( I believe )

I have been busy gathering parts. I ended up purchasing a Hobart 140 handler and loaded it with .023 wire to do my sheet metal work with. My Miller 175 welder is at my cabin so here is one more thing I ended up needing 2 of. The Miller was tough to dial down for sheet metal anyway so this hobart will be nice and it is more portable.

I ended up deciding on an S10 T-5 transmission and I have ordered a T-5 swap adapter from Hamilton intakes which properly aligns the T-5 to my 292. I will be able to use my stock bell housing and pedals this way.

I sure hope so. I am thinking the extra gears will offer me a whole better range of usable gears for streets and highways/freeways.

Good chatting there TJ. As I mentioned, I have been spending all my time on my white '64 long step. It's getting well into the 90's here everyday and I need to get that one wrapped up so I can use it all summer up north. The short bed build will probably slow down during the real hot months.
