I would look for oe before buying aftermarket. Many board vendors offer sheet metal though

Here you go. I bought an aftermarket one before reading this warning. I haven't been able to confirm the problems yet.

Re: 68 chev hood where to buy

As someone who just replaced his 68 hood recently, go find an OEM, no matter how long it takes. All the after market stuff is just horrid, at least the one that I have tried.

According to dad ( GMCPaul ) Tabco makes most of their patch panels but they do not make entire panels such as, hoods, doors, fenders, etc...
Their web site is miss-leading they state they make their own panels in the USA which they do but they also carry a TON of other parts they do not make. So everything from Tabco IS NOT MADE IN THE USA

Thank you for this post. Very well said.

The best ones I have found are from Auto Metal Direct out of Cleveland Georgia.

Re: 68 chev hood where to buy

Why pay close to $400 for a reproduction when you can find nice original gm sheet metal for as little as $50?

Re: 68 chev hood where to buy

I paid $140 for mine, original GM probably the best one I have ever seen. Original paint, etc. There out there .. I agree, keep looking for GM unless you just want to go AM.

Yes, when the 1st 67-68 grill reproductions were made and before being approved for a manufacturing run we were shipped the 1st grill done to test fit it and I installed it on my 68 GMC 4x4 Suburban and I can confirm that it matched the fenders and hood exactly like the original ( I had no problems with installing it or the trim onto it ). There are how ever at least 2 manufacturers ( possibly 3 ) of the 67-68 Chevy grill now though so I can't speak for all of them but the Tri-Plus made grills are 100% correct.
