Roll bars
I did a quick search and see this hasn't really been too much of a topic of late. (or ever lol).
I started driving in the 70's, and was lucky enough to be able to hit all the weekend cruise spots before cruising was banned, or just plain ol against the law. Back then a majority of the lifted (and some non lifted) trucks were running roll bars. Some real fancy, some just a single bar. Some with roll bar accessories, lights, CB antennas etc etc. I'm curious if this is still a thing in any part of the country? I always liked em, made a truck look a little extra burly. I've never owned a truck with any kind of a large lift, and I often run canopies on my trucks so a roll bar just wouldn't work ... any of you 67-72 guys running these. Id like to see a pic or two if you are.

Not here.... but I remember when those used to be somewhat common. Unfortunately many of them weren't true roll bars, just show bars bolted to the bed floor. But they looked tuff (I guess) and provided a mounting spot for all those off-road lights that were pretty much mandatory.

Yeah I agree 99 percent of em were cosmetic with zero roll protection.

i got one. goin for a 80's monster truck look someday im gonna try to find (or build) a cab visor too. i dont care if they're "outdated" or "just for looks" in my head it fits the truck

I had a double chrome bar , end for ended for the truck in a ice storm and drove it home . the truck had won many awards until that , just saying some protection is better than no roll bar.

The 70s and early 80s were my favorite years of truckin, it seems all 4x4s had a roll bar in the bed and a push bar or cattle guard on the front, slotted, hurricane or wagon wheels with big Monster Mudders or Ground Hawgs. By the mid 80s guys went a little nuts, it became about how much chrome you could bolt on... 4 or 5 shocks per wheel, triple and more roll bars, tube grilles and way too many Daylighters really took away from the looks of a truck IMO
