1968 CST camper special 50th
I picked up a 1968 CST camper special C20 lwb 50th anniversary 1 owner .
The 327 was long gone, truck has been stored indoors for at least last 10 years. Paint is dead, but overall an extremely clean truck. I also have a 1968 lwb k20. Rough body but strong runner. Should I turn my 50th into a 4x4? Thoughts? |

Another shot.
Previous owners son was going to change color to orange, seat was as far as he got. Last edited by 1968C20CST; 03-12-2014 at 12:17 AM. |

Very nice truck, personally I would save this one and build the 4x4 with something else.

Re: 1968 CST camper special 50th
I have to say I go back and forth, I wish I had the original motor, since I don't it keeps me up at night! I want to drive this cool truck! Living in Colorado makes me want the 4x4, but the truck being so clean makes it hard to mess with it.

Re: 1968 CST camper special 50th
Short of being a straight fairly rust free 50th CST camper special the truck is pretty basic. No power brakes, no power steering, no a/c.

I vote body swap. It'd be unique and custom and you'll never pass the same truck driving down the road. Great score

Re: 1968 CST camper special 50th
Isn't "camper special" a Ford thing? 67-72 Chevy = Custom Camper?

Re: 1968 CST camper special 50th
For the conversion I would use the 1968 k20 chassis which has power steering power brakes, and I have 1984 1 ton for parts that has a Dana 60 disc front and a ff 14 bolt rear. I would go with about a 4" lift. Leave the paint patina, recover the seat with gold inserts.

dude that thing is AWESOME. very well preserved. i have to say i'm not a huge fan of long bed trucks, but i would be proud to drive that thing just like it is.
