Fix a horn

One of my horns doesnt work. Hooked it to 12v and ground and it made a small squeak and then nothing. The second horn seems to work fine.

Are they different tones in each horn?

Is it possible to fix a horn? A new one is only $20 but im sure its a cheap POS and Im in a slow time on my truck anyway

Re: Fix a horn

X2 on the WD40. And yes, two tones, one high & one low.

Re: Fix a horn

hmm they look the same. any way to tell which is which? I already took them off and have no idea which was where.

judging by the whimpy sound id say the high tone works but im not sure.

ill try the wd-40 on the broken one.

note to others, dont sand blast the horn. Im still shaking this dang thing to get the media out... doh!

The high note horn will have an H in a circle on it. In addition to the WD-40, diddling with the adjustment screw can help, as can a few whacks with a rubber mallet - I brought a high note horn back to life using these techniques.
