72 Cheyenne Super RCSB -- Buying / Pricing Help

Hello Guys,

Hoping for a little buying/pricing help. I am new to the 67-72 section but not new to the forum as I have had my 89 Silverado RCSB 2WD for 25 years now ( pics here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...449586&page=28 )

So... I came across an unrestored / unmolested 72 Cheyenne Super RCSB 2WD. I checked out the SPID -- This truck came loaded -- big block, A/C, PS, PB, auto, tilt, tach, posi. It was originally blue and white with a white bench interior and still wears most of the original paint, tho it was a southwest / desert truck so the paint has some serious "patina". It is also rust-free. It has been sitting for ??? Interior is shot, wood bed has disintegrated. Not running / no motor. (Sorry no pics, my phone just died)

Seller knows what he has and is firm at $6K. Seems high... I know it's gonna need a lot, but also I know this is a top-dollar truck when done

Any thoughts on price???
Many thanks!

No motor means no Super anymore in my book....got pictures?

Sounds like a $1500 builder to me.

If truly rust free I would say more like 4000-4500 max.

What is RCSB? I'm assuming SB is short bed.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super RCSB -- Buying / Pricing Help

6K sounds a bit high.....and 'unmolested' but without a motor? that doesn't add up for me description wise.
I'd would agree with some of the above pricing starting in the $3500-$4000k range....maybe.
Again tho'....no pics, no accurate guesses.
A truck left sitting for years without a motor can need $15,000 of work in a heartbeat...probably more unless you have already have a motor and are very handy at bodywork and paint. For that money ($15k-18k) and zero labor...you can find another super nice shortbed in the $15k-18K range all day long.
Just my two bits tho'.
Keep us posted on it

I think rcsb is regular cab short bed. I would also agree that 6 grand is ridiculous. I saw a loaded Cheyenne super in Oregon the other day, it was a long bed and pretty beat, but was a runner with the original paint and decent body for around 1500 if I recall. Patience is the name of the game.

6k for a truck with no engine... I bought my super for 1500.00 (with an engine, original one at that) keep looking. You'll find a better one

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super RCSB -- Buying / Pricing Help

RCSB is modern truck talk. In the pre-73 GM Truck world they are just "cabs". That money world be acceptable if it had the motor. Kinda high w/o. It can still be unmolested if just missing the motor. Unmolested relates to being unaltered from original. An original motor can be slipped back on and there ya go

Just a thought here.. No matter what you pay for that truck,( and 6000 is way to high ) for the asking price you will never get it to the level of this attached Cheyenne Super in the for sale section now.
