Doing something small

It all started with.... LOL I think most of our truck endeavors start this way. I started with just a simple thing and it escalated from there. When i got my truck I knew the grill was in upside down. Not a huge ordeal to fix so after working on the engine and getting most of it squared away I started on the Grill. Pulled it out. 1 screw and some silicone on the screw holding it in place is what was holding the entire grill in. So got the grill out and noticed all my headlight adjusters were bolts and nuts. Well onto rockauto we go. Order a t-stat cause mines to low if it actually has one. 4 sets of headlight adjusters and an oil pressure switch since mine reads too high to be true. So after sitting for a couple days the parts come in and i start to remove the headlight bolts and think to myself these headlight buckets are aweful rusty and would probably adjust better with a bit of new grease on the back of the buckets. well that escalates into pulling all of them out and cleaning with a wire brush then i think to myself well if i have went this far might as well start painting too. LOL So I painted the headlight buckets and started in on the rust on the radiator support and its up for paint next. LOL Sometimes I think i think a bit too much for something that was never meant to be a show truck. Im just glad i dont have access to some powder coating. LOL

Yeah thats next. Pulled the fan off after that pic and started cleaning up the surface rust on the RS so I can paint it too. LOL Think im gonna take the plastic breather thing off on the pass side and take the knock out of the drivers side off as well to give the engine compartment a bit more air.

Re: Doing something small

Guess I should show my after pics as well since i started with the crappy before ones. LOL. I really do not like the grill. it has a horrible fit. I think its an older model of the phantom grill cause they were prone to bad fits if memory serves. Going to either buy a new one or just get the center section and buy the light covers. havent made up my mind.

Looks nice monte. It always a snowball effect with guys like us. I have the same grill but mine is not the phantom. It shows the headlights.

yeah i like the phantom but then again i like just the plain billet better. The phantom grilles look good on show trucks that are going for that completely smooth look. But i think the billet looks better on daily drivers that still want to be custom in parts.

Now i'm gonna have to clean up my headlight buckets! they look good. I'm in a good position to do it right now too as you can see

Yep you are. LOL.. I started out just going to change the headlight adjusters since they were rigged up with bolts and nuts. Once i seen the grease between the radiator support and buckets was all dried and crusty it went down hill from there. lol

What started with a 4 speed 205 swap turned into a cab swap, newer 454 and 8" lift... Go big or go home!

I know this effect way to well. My small repair started as a busted brake line and now a year later, I stripped it down to the frame. Replaced the cab and bed and exhaust and wiring and fenders and doors and..... Still haven't put any miles on .
