How do you fill an original jack with hydraulic fluid ?

. . . .

I bought an original jack for my 70 C-10 and can't seem to figure out how to fill it with hydraulic fluid.

( it must be low since it doesn't 'pump" anymore )

Do I have to unscrew the top of it, maybe ? THANKS !!!

. . . .

I think those were screw style jacks. You stick the tire iron into the knob and turn.

X3...screw jack not hydraulic. You might want to lube the screw though

Pretty much sums it up.
The jack, folding jack operating handle and a tire iron.
The foam storage bag was a joke though.

I just need a stronger ARM !!!

I have the handle, wrench and bag . . . I just thought it was hydraulic !!!

I guess I just have to try it with the handle . . . it didn't turn very well with my fingers.

This website is worth it's weight in GOLD, I truly couldn't have restored my truck without it . . THANKS !!!

Might have to mount in a vice (gently) spray with some Blaster and get it going smoothly again

I'm a bit late chiming in on this but I can remember when I bought my first 1972 gmc that little jack was only jack I had with a small pail of tools. Simple times but some of the best of my life.

Hi Steve: smart ass here. Please forgive me but your post was just begin for a smart ass response. Down the street at diesel place.com we always reiterate that there are no stupid questions here unless your broke down on the side of the road and didn't ask that question. You can ask us old farts any questions you want (about our trucks).we'll be glad to help. Most of us have been there, seen that, done that and are half bald and graying for a reason. later Man.

Re: How do you fill an original jack with hydraulic fluid ?

I have a quart of original jack fluid I will sell you. It's NOS, a sealed can. The label is long done, and when you open there's a good chance you will find that it's full of kidney beans.
$25 plus shipping

Those jacks use elbow grease, not fluid. The grease zerk is in the handle. "Turn Liberally"

Would be a good idea to upload photos from the different jacks, especially old.
