I took the top of for the first time since I've owned it. I'll work on installing the soft top later. Here's a picture of the Blazer in its natural environment.

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?
Man, now that I finally got the new engine running, I've got renewed interest. Yesterday, I took and had a new exhaust put on. I went out in front of the rear wheels with a couple of Flowmasters.
Next week, alignment with new wheels. Today, I started building a pulley system in the shop to help pull the top off! Man, I'm back on it and having a great time!

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?
Well, got most of my e-brake installed. But again, the intermediate cable was too short.
Guess I need a custom one. The one from Inline Tube was at least 4" too short. In the meantime, I had another one come from Alberta, and it is still too short, almost 2". Will ship the one back to IT, and see if they can send me one 6" longer. I have been working on the e-brake since last June. If it wasn't wrong or waiting parts, it was winter and too cold to get in the carport to work. Otherwise, hoping to rebuild the steering box this weekend. Hopefully it goes better. |

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?
Finished the heater core install (some of the OEM style tower clamps I started with were a big failure), added a metal upper radiator tube I had Parkerized, got Roger Koop's OEM style battery cables installed while the RH inner fender was off, and added a set of NOS side marker lights as the repros were shedding their stainless trim rings. Then - I went for a short leisurely cruise....

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?
Dropped off a pile of parts to be phosphate coated (Parkerized) just like GM did. Hood hinges, hood latches, door striker plates, 72 front hooks, bags of bolts/screws, tie rod bracket, etc. For these parts it's an authentic redo that's cheaper and more durable than powdercoating or painting. $180 for the all shown to be cleaned, bead blasted, and Parkerized at a local facility that does 15k gun barrels monthly for the Ruger Co.

For brackets and bolts that get wrenched on it's the best way to go - good to do pulleys also.

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?
I put in my heat/sound damper and laid the front carpet in place. I still have a lot to do with it like find all the bolt holes, shifter boot, seat belts, door sills etc. It will take me a whole day or more to get everything fitted in there. Oh and I did my roof rail seals to.

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?
I did my door weatherstrips today. I lifted the roof off enough to get at the top of the seals. It was rock solid no rust clean along the windshield frame. I cleaned everything up and installed my seals. When I was pulling the roof off the two front LT/RT hold down bolts broke off. I could not get them to easy out so I stepped drill the bolts out and ran a tap back though the nut plates. I put the roof back on and finished off the seals. I did not like the way the drip deflectors fit so I put the stock ones back on until I get it fiqured out. I got a few more things to do on the interior like the rear pnls, shifter boot, radio speaker.

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?
To tell you the truth I did not know how it came from the factory. So I thought it would look better with the carpet folded over the edge and glued down to the vertical wall. Then I cut it along the floor line.
