PROJECT "As Seen In My Garage"

Ok so i finally decided to do a build thread on here.

so a two years ago i bought a 1984 Chevrolet K20. 383 Stroker, Hooker Comp Headers, Edlebrock performer intake, 2 Inch body Lift, faded paint, minimal body cancer, 4x4, hi-flow water pump. I had always wanted a square body, my dad had some when i was younger but sold them before i was old enough to drive.

Soon after i got it and started body work

Re: PROJECT "As Seen In My Garage"

Next i started to do more body work and i primered the whole thing black for winter because i dont like body work in the cold I put a 4 inch lift on for a total of 6 inches of lift. Then i started haveing clutch problems. i put a new clutch in and kept on ruining throwout bearings, after some research i found it needed a long shaft throw out bearing. I put one in and it worked. (tranny dropped 4 times by this point.

Re: PROJECT "As Seen In My Garage"

i traded for two new front fenders and started body work again. Then i started haveing motor issues. My harmonic dampner broke so i had to get a new one. those arent cheap. After that my timing kept on getting messed up, dont know why, then i started having issues with the rocker arms and heads,. i did not know what clearence they needed to be so before i ruined the whole motor i traded it for a 350 small block that would not need so much tlc and get better gas milage, by this point i decided i wanted a daily driver not a race truck.

Re: PROJECT "As Seen In My Garage"

that is my new motor and centerforce clutch. It took me awhile to get it together. (school and a little burned out) but i finally got her together and took her for a test drive...... and ruined a throwout bearing. so i got a new throwout bearing, and for some reason it is not working, i dont know what kind of tranny is in my truck but im done messing with it, so yesterday i pulled the body off my suburban (it had been rolled) and i am going to put that tranny in my truck, that way i know what exactly is in my truck and i dont have to play this dumb guessing game........

Re: PROJECT "As Seen In My Garage"

I've decided that i will use the transmission out of the burb because i will not have to play the guessing game and that tranny has the " Bulletproof" NP205 Transfer case that i have always wanted

Re: PROJECT "As Seen In My Garage"

after that i got the burb frame cut up and ready for the scrap yard saving the axles and motor even though the motor needs a complete rebuild and almost everything,,,, might end up scrapping it for money

Smile Re: PROJECT "As Seen In My Garage"

Ok we'll I'm formerly known as Toxic Redline but after being out of the country for two years I've started up my 84 project again' before I left I got rid of that 350 so it just didn't rot, so now I've been looking for a new motor but I ain't got no money, so I got a deal' a 64 dump truck that they put a crate 350 that has 70'000 on it now and I get it free I just have to put the trans in a different truck, so I dropped the trans and fired up the motor today needless to say IM PUMPED!!! Good to be back

Re: PROJECT "As Seen In My Garage"

Very nice project, with lots of innovative work. Been to Ogden many times, great scenery, and better skiing, Powder Mountain. Keep up the reports to us.
Do you have any " government liquidation" sales in your area, sometimes they have unique 4x4 stuff. We are driving a one ton 4x4 CUCV as HD truck which includes trail making through the woods, it is amazing how far you can go just crashing through the woods with it. Also have CUCV Blazer made from 6 parts blazers. They have cool things like M16 gun racks, black out lights, jerry can holders, spot lights, places for electronic gear, dual battery and alternator set-ups, and almost crash- proof bumpers.

Thanks for sharing your project with us. Please keep reporting.
