Few Questions 68 SWB
1 - I am trying to figure out how much drop is on my. I bought the truck as is and am not sure how much it is. I recently bought some shocks from CPP for a 3" front and 5" rear drop. On the fronts I had to lean on the fender while my brother put the shock on the top stud. The spring measures 13in from the bottom to the top coil. This was measured with the coil off the truck, and down the middle of the coil.
2 - The PO had install 73+ control arms, am in the process of rebuilding them with poly bushings. I am wondering if you can y just the shells without a bushing in them. I am having problems getting the old rubber out of the shell. |

Re: Few Questions 68 SWB
Hard to tell. May be old worn out springs that appear as a drop. If actually dropped maybe along the lines of a 2/4 is my guess? Again hard to tell

Re: Few Questions 68 SWB
Your springs may be stock and that looks like a 2 1/2" drop spindle. Now they may also have cut some off the spring so hard to tell. You are going to need a press to do the control arm bushings. That shell has to come out.

Re: Few Questions 68 SWB
I'm betting those are sagged stock springs at 13 inches.
Here is a brand new pair of 2 inch coils prior to installation. They are one inch shorter than yours. On the bushings, Energy Suspension brand comes with new shells for their bushings. Prothane reuses the old shells. I like the Prothane because it's such a beating to remove and replace the shells. Like you, I like to remove the old original rubber, clean up the shells and install the new urethane inserts. That saves a lot of time and aggravation not having to do all the pressing and cussing. By the way, FYI, you have dropped spindles.
