WTB 2 16x8 8 lug wheels
Just looked at my truck and I have 2 16x6 front wheels and 2 16.5x6.75 rear wheels. I would like to have 16 wheels all around but with the back a little wider than the front, so I am looking for 2 16x7 8 lug wheels or 16x6.5 for my rear wheel. I will get pics of the front so you have an idea of how they look, as I do not plan to run hub caps they have to match. Thank you all for the help, hopefully I will get a set prior to the tires on the 16.5 going bold.
Thank you again. Last edited by 47thriftmaster; 04-22-2014 at 08:58 PM. Reason: changed wheel size to 16.7 8 lug |

Re: WTB 2 16x8 8 lug wheels
I had a set of 4 16X8 made at Stockton wheel in CA for my 72 Custom Camper. A little pricey at $150 ea, but you can get whatever offset you want and they are NEW. I like the tire selection for 16" vs 16.5. Just another thought if you can't locate what you want!

Re: WTB 2 16x8 8 lug wheels
Assuming your fronts are original to the truck, they're proabbaly the oem 16x6.5" 8 lug steel wheels ("steelies"). Ford (actually Accuride co.) made a 16x7" steel wheel that looks very close to the GM wheel, except for the shape of the four "windows", that will bolt right onto your truck. They're close enough in appearance it takes a trained eye to tell the difference. Ford also offered a 16x6" wheel that matches their 16x7 exactly if you needed them to look identical. The Ford 8 lug steelies are primarily on their 90's 3/4 and 1 ton vans. No 16x8 lug steelies by oem mfrs that Im aware of.

Re: WTB 2 16x8 8 lug wheels
lug-centric (what you have) will work on a hub-centric wheel as long as the hub opening is larger than the hub - so it's ok to use what you have. Ford wheels are lug-centric and folks use them on the chev 8 lug hubs all the time. If, however, you do want the hub-centric type, a trip to the local junkyard should do - mid/late 70's to 87 3/4 and 1 ton chevs more commonly had the 16" wheels you seek. Maybe not in 8" width though.

Re: WTB 2 16x8 8 lug wheels
What you want are the later GM wheels,is what I'm thinking. They are fairly easy to find,or easier that older wheels anyway. They were use from the 70s-91. I believe these wheels are 6". You can get new 16 x 8s from Wheel Vintiques, but not sure if center hole would be a fit to the GM hub, since they are likely one size fits all 8-lug
