Moving to Washington

so I'm active duty navy and ill be moving to washington in about a year and I'm pretty familiar with CA's emissions controls and thats another reason i love owning a 1972 c10. but I'm not sure what WA requires for older vehicles. i looked on a few of their pages to find some info but didn't really find anything helpful. anyone on here from washington know a bit more that can help me? thanks i appreciate it.

I am in AR so I can't help but know a little, I'd say if your good in Calli your good anywhere. You pretty much have two types of emissions, CA and 49 state.[or it use to be not too long ago] Jim

Vehicles 25 years or older do not require emissions here. Any idea where in Washington you'll be headed?

Actually in some areas emissions aren't required on any vehicles here

I live on Whidbey Island and work on the Naval Air Station... no worries about emissions.

I retired from the USN back in '06... welcome to WA!

ill be headed to bremerton for some 2-3 years then probably gonna stay. looking at moving to port orchard. anyone from that area.

Born & raised! My dad was in the Navy & I was born at the old Naval hospital in Bremerton. Went to schools in both Bremerton & Port Orchard growing up. Did most of my running around in PO though, most of my family is there. There is a huge Hot Rod culture in Kitsap County & plenty of car shows & wrecking yards for good parts (at least there used to be). If you have any questions just shoot me a message.

I would try to stay away from living too close to the base though, lots of crime. I'd try and find a quiet place in PO and commute, maybe with a nice big garage.

We had to get out, couldn't stand the rain any longer....although I sure wish we'd get some now though, it's been close to triple digits where I live in Orange County this last week. Too hot for me.

When you do your registration if you spring for collector plates your registration will be permanent and you won't have to renew every year. Also, if you can find a plate original to the era of your truck you can register it and run it on your truck as a collector plate as well.

I know how you feel big mike I'm in SD right now and it's been pretty hot. And I agree with swamp rat I'm already looking for a place with a big garage. And thanks A.Bursell I didn't think about the collecter plate option. Definitely looking into that

Not sure about Kitsap County, but there are no emissions in many counties here. At least not in Skagit County where I'm at.
