Re: 81 chevy short bed.

Welcome to the forum!

Your truck is super-easy to lower, and there are tons of parts in the aftermarket to do it. First of all, you need to determine how low you want to go, because there are many "recipes" on how to do each one. There's a very good thread on this board titled "How about some pictures of static dropped C-10s", and most everyone that posted up their pictures explained their combination. Here it is:

If you want to have a nice ride, I would start with drop spindles in the front. Bell Tech makes a great spindle, and I highly recommend them. Make sure you measure the thickness of your front brake rotors first before you order the spindles because they come in two versions, the light duty (1.0" thick rotor) and the heavy duty (1.25" thick rotor).

There are a few different methods to lower the rear, from shackle kits, to lowering blocks, to flip kits. A lot of it all depends on how low you want to go.

After you decide how low you want to be, invest in a quality gas shock. It makes a huge difference.

When you decide on your drop, post up again, and we'll help you out.
