is this height bigger on 3/4ton trucks compared to the 1/2tons? If so and or what are the measurements of a half ton?

3200 (lwb 1/2 ton) and 3600 (lwb 3/4 ton) are the same frame. FAM sect 2 sheet 26.00
3800 1 ton has a heavier frame that goes straight over the rear axle

Re: are 3/4 ton truck frames bigger?

link in my signature sends you to a site with spec manuals for the different years. There is a frame section that gives the difference in width, depth and thickness of the frame channels. It also has wheelbase, track and other dimensions. The link lands on a 56 truck page, scroll down and click on the year index tab to get to the menu for different years.

Re: are 3/4 ton truck frames bigger?

The big difference between a 3100 frame and a 3/4 ton frame besides length is that the 3/4 ton frames are pretty well straight all the way back from the cab mounts while a half ton frame be it short or long bed spreads out at the rear to 40 something (not taking the time to look it up or measure now) inches .

If you had a good 3/4 ton frame that you were thinking about shortening to put under a short bed the only big issue would be the width of the frame at the rear and needing a notch in the back if you decide to lower the truck any.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: are 3/4 ton truck frames bigger?

going to put my trans am clip on my frame and was just brain storming some things... It will stay a long bed for now. Big notch over the rear axle 4 link, bags.

Where do you think i would need a notch in the back if i decided to lower it?

not on tf trucks, the 3200 frame is the same as the 3600 frame, same as in same frame
3800 frame is straight over the rear axle
