Choo Choo Customs C10
I am trying to find some info on my truck that has been in my family for over 30 years now. It is a 1981 C10 SWB and I have attached some pictures for reference. The truck was customized by Choo Choo Customs to give it the paint pattern that is on it, and I think they also put in the bucket seats and carpeted the entire inside of the truck. However when I have done research on it all I can find is that Choo Choo Customs went out of business and was purchased by another company so I can't find any info on my truck. Also a few other weird things are the emblem on the side says "Custom Deluxe" but when I go get parts for it they ask if it is a Custom or Deluxe and say they don't have an option. Another weird thing is it has the 6' bed and originally came with a 305 however the title says it is a 3/4 ton?? I have checked the VIN and if I am looking at the right character then it is a 3/4 ton...just thought that was weird seeing how it is a SWB. Any info would be helpful. I am about to start a restro on it and if I can find Choo Choo Customs info then I am going to make it look original however if I can't then I am going to go with a solid paint job and bring it up to the times some. Any input or suggestions is appreciated.

Re: Choo Choo Customs C10
I am really on the fence on painting it. It was my dads truck and he gave it to me some years back one side of me wants to keep it with the same paint because I know that's what he would like and then I see one painted a solid color that looks sharp and I think about changing it. Oh and my wife hates the way it is painted lol. I will post some more picture tomorrow.

Re: Choo Choo Customs C10
There were plenty of Choo Choos in Dallas back then. I have never seen one like that though.

Re: Choo Choo Customs C10
Choo Choo was based out of Chattanooga, TN. I've seen several 80s trucks over the years around Atlanta, mostly crew cab dually trucks with decked out interiors. Not sure what kind of records they kept or when they went under, pretty sure finding parts isn't really an option.
As for that scheme, never seen it and I love it... don't paint!!! |

I use to live in the DFW area and have only seen 1 other one like this but it didn't look this good. You could tell it had been wrecked and they replaced body panels but didn't paint it.

Re: Choo Choo Customs C10
THAT IS JUST "KOOL"! I think I actually remember seeing one of those at my Chevy dealer, back in the day (South East Alabama). The dealer was just down the road, and we would go by there all the time. I can still remember takeing a test drive in a brand new 1983 Monte Carlo SS. My dad wound that car up AND out
