Correct horn button for 55 2nd?

I have seen both buttons on 55/56 pickups and have wondered which is correct? I believe the lower one is correct. The upper one was used on the 54 and 55 1st trucks?

Just to muddy the waters a little.... Page 9-4 in the '55 2nd series shop manual shows the upper horn cap! "Fig.8 Checking load on steering gear"

We have a lively discussion going on the Stovebolt forum about these horn buttons. Seems there are some different opinions. Here's a pic out of Classic parts .com catalogue to add to the fire!

Yes, and the owners manual shows the round button (upper) as well on the 55.2 There doesn't seem to be any documentation known for the lower button shown, but many 56 and some 55 have it. Possibly it was used on the Cameos?

I have a horn button and steering wheel that was given to me by a friend that had a 56 Cameo (he put a different steering wheel in his Cameo) and it is the Lower one shown in the Picture. I don't know if it was only used on a Cameo
but you might be right!

Re: Correct horn button for 55 2nd?

OK, the one I have (in the pic) had a black background also, it had barely any color left so I cleaned it down to the chrome, I have repainted the black now. I wonder if any of these caps had the background done in red?

Re: Correct horn button for 55 2nd?

My guess would be that they used up the 1st series horn buttons on the 2nd series trucks until they were gone, then they switched to the other button during the production run.
I would bet that they were only done with the black back ground and used on all series
and not just the Cameo's, Just my 2cents
