Wiring harness

Me and a few friends of mine is going to restore a 1971 Chevy C20. All of the wiring under the hood is hacked. Where can we find an engine bay harness that is plug and play? It's a 2wd auto with a 350 engine

Re: Wiring harness

Hey Tye considering the whole harness is over forty years old I would suggest a complete new harness. I've had good luck with the American Autowire harness. Do a search for it , there are several vendors that carry it. Good luck with your project.

Re: Wiring harness

Agreed. Currently in the process of putting in a complete harness, fairly easy. Would have only taken me a day, but I can only find about an hour a day to actually get to the garage.

Simple and new, can't go wrong.

Thanks. We plan to replace the whole harness, but at the moment he needs to be able to drive it as we collect a few parts. Keep having electrical problems due to shorts and hacked up splices! The overflow for the radiator is a plastic jug with a hole cut in it for the hose!

Re: Wiring harness

'Lectric Limited makes great harness. They can customize with later alternators and HEI too so it is a good time to think about future mods to avoid hacking a new harness.

Well you gotta admit that plastic jug is better than original; a hose pointed straight to the asphalt. I used an m&h wiring harness upgraded to hei. Beautiful work and has original wire brackets. I can take pics if you need. American auto wire and m&h are nearly identical harnesses.

Re: Wiring harness

I have a small part time business doing mainly wiring harness replacements/upgrades on classic cars and trucks and I use American Autowire exclusively. They cost a little more, but all the little extras like correct connectors, exact terminal replication, and ease of installation are more than worth it. Not to mention, they have great customer service!
