control arm shaft and bushings
i'm rebuilding the front suspension on my 72. how do you go about replacing the old control arms shafts? any help is appreciated

They unscrew from each side. They can be a pain to screw back in if the arm is damaged.

the arms aren't damaged at all. So you unscrew each end and do they have to be pressed out or what?

Assuming they are all stock and not a newer year. Just unscrew them. No pressing required.

You put a big giant wrench on the bushings and unscrew them from the arms. This frees the shaft and it will now fall out with the bushings removed.

Get a can of pb blast and a good nights sleep. Those nuts can be a bear to unscrew. I used a bench vice to hold the shaft whille unscrewing the nut. If youre looking for shafts still. I found rockauto to have the best deals

Got all my cross shafts and all front end parts from Summit. It was all Moog parts and if you spend over a hundred bucks it will ship for free. Quick turn around too. Had my parts in like three days. Everyone is right use the PB Blaster freely and have something to clamp the arms in while you use a huge wrench and possibly even a piece of pipe. They can be a little tough coming off.
