Spacer for stepside fenders?

I'm building a 67 stepside and would like the box sides closer to even with the cab and a bit wider stance in the rear. I have a buddy who is a whiz with design and CNC work, mostly spends his time with old Hondas but can easily figure this out. I know the steps will need work as well but it shouldn't be a huge deal.

Haven't finalized what I need for width as I'm waiting on springs and a panhard to square the rear but right now it looks like 1.5-2" will do.

Before I go getting into this has somebody already done it and I'm wasting my time and are there any others out there interested in the same thing? As with anything if my buddy does this its cheaper if more than one set is done at the same time.

There was a company years ago that made them but I've never been able to find any, I would like to see something in a 3" bolt on extension but even a 2" would work.

Like I said I have not made any real measurements as the rear is not square and now the box is off getting ready for paint. This was my parents truck and the box always looked too narrow for the truck. So it may end up more than 2". Sounds like CNC billet aluminum is the way we will end up going.

I guess if they were available but they're not now is a good idea if I should do more than one set!

couldn`t you use the cross sills from a wood floor fleet side bed and cut them down to the width you need?

Not sure what you mean. If your thinking making the whole bed wider I thought of that but it would be quite a bit of work by the time I redo my wood bed and figure out wider front and tailgate.

I'm just thinking a spacer that fits the contour of fender to go between it and and the bed side.

Yes. Just like that. We are thinking the easiest would be CNC out of billet aluminum though

That would be an expensive thing to cnc because of the size of it, getting another set of fenders and cutting them the space you need sounds like it would be easier although making the bed wider almost seems easier to me because you are on the flats of the tailgate and front of the bed just my opinion

I won't be making the bed wider. I'm too far into building the truck to start the bed over and I'm not much of a body man. We will see on cost, my buddy build lots of CNC Honda stuff be it on a far smaller scale but he didn't think it would be out of this world expensive. That said I will definitely owe him for his time on design.

Just to update. We have designed them just working on a different material to use. We worked it out for billet but it doesn't make sense unless I was to build a bunch of sets. The guy who did the design builds bushings out of some new plastic and it will be a fraction of the cost. Just trying to figure out if it will hold up painted. The stuff is bullet proof just not sure how paint will stick to it and last. If my truck was going to be black it would work perfect.
