New Thrush Exhaust Kit (#89027)

Has anybody seen or better yet installed the new Thrush header back dual exhaust kit PN 89027? It is supposed to fit 66-72 C/K 10 trucks. I saw it at Jegs and Summit for under $300. Just curious for feedback and pics.

Re: New Thrush Exhaust Kit (#89027)

Sorry to revive this post from the dead, but I went ahead and bought this system for my '70 c20 and I like it pretty well. The only thing I don't like is the placement of the tailpipes. I feel like they exit too far back, almost at the corner of the bed. Other than that, I have been extremely pleased with the sound. Getting the pipes up there was a major pain though. It took about six hours to get everything to hang nicely. I would recommend welding the entire thing even though it's made to be clamped, mine leaks at nearly every joint. Considering the price, however, I think it was a good buy.

I'm planning on a V8 swap in my '68, and I'd love to see some pics of that set-up.

Re: New Thrush Exhaust Kit (#89027)

I was going to do this to a vehicle some time back until I called my local shop. New system installed with chrome tips and flowmasters (or equilalent priced mufflers) it's about $375, tax and all. That may not hold where you live though.

Re: New Thrush Exhaust Kit (#89027)

I just bought this kit a week ago. I think it is for long bed trucks (Although it didn't specify) and I have a short stepper. I haven't installed it yet but I'm sure I'm going to have to do some cutting. I also got a set of cheap Hedmans. I will post some pictures when I get a chance.

Did it come with an H pipe? It say says a crossover pipe is included in "most kits"...

Yes, it comes with an "H" pipe. Which is good and bad. The good is, it has an "H" pipe. The bad is for us short bed guys, since the "H" requires the pipes to bend inward (Come closer together) you can't shorten any of this part of the exhaust until it the pipes go parallel again since any shortening would cause the rest of the dual exhaust to get closer together.

I'm hoping to try to install mine this weekend. I will try to post some pictures.

Re: New Thrush Exhaust Kit (#89027)

Sorry for the slow reply... It's finals week and I'm making sure my grades are all good. The kit does come with an h pipe. Hopefully this weekend I can get some pictures of the whole setup.

I have to say, the thrush turbo mufflers are great if you like a nice sound but don't really want to hear it in the cab. I don't even hear the exhaust at cruising speed, but when I put my foot down they have a nice throaty aggressive sound. Maybe I can get a video this weekend.
