Flatbed Swap Questions

I am wondering how hard it would be to put a aluminum flat bed off a ford 350 onto my 87 C-30 ton dually, I've never taken a bed off so this will be new ground for me. Thx

Re: Flatbed Swap Questions

I think these just get bolted to the top of the frame rails. Could be drilled and through bolted or possibly long U-bolts. Be advised that this will raise up the load height of the bed, as compared to a stock bed. I would get that bed if it is a reasonable price - aluminum beds are very expensive when new, and that one would make a great dump bed conversion.

I would measure the width of the rails to make sure it will be easy otherwise you may need to either move or replace the rails.

Re: Flatbed Swap Questions

I assume you've looked at the 2004 flatbed onto an 85 c30 thread, might give you attachment ideas.

Even if the ford frame is wider/narrower, you can put on some cross tubes (square or rectangular, whatever makes the best fit) and bolt the bed to the cross tubes and the cross tubes to the chevy frame.

Alex.
