Gas Tank 60 Burb Chassis

Looks like I will not be able to use the original tank in my project (2WD, 60 chassis and 64 body). Looking on the forums it seems most of the easy blazer swaps are good for 63+ Does anyone have any experience swapping tanks in a 60-62 chassis?

Thanks,

Scottie

Re: Gas Tank 60 Burb Chassis

Since the tank sits inside the frame, isn't the frame the same 60-66?

Re: Gas Tank 60 Burb Chassis

I'm learning as I'm going here but seems the frames are different 60-62 vs 63-66. My frame is an "X" construction and seems dims on the back rails are some how different?? I think narrower.

Re: Gas Tank 60 Burb Chassis

That is correct. The 2wd '60-'62 frames are wider at the rear than the '63-'72 frames. The 4wd '60-'62 frames are the same as the '63-'72's

I know that Boyds Welding makes tanks for the '60-'62 trucks, but those may be out of your budget? His for sale thread can be found in the 'Vendors Marketplace' here on the forum. The next one I would look at is the universal gas tank by Tanks Inc.

Re: Gas Tank 60 Burb Chassis

Thanks for the ideas. Boyds is sweet but whoa$$.

GMCPauls is showing the 69-72 Blazer kit to fit with a bracket or easy mod. Looks like that would be a good go.

Thanks,

Scottie

For extended range you can also try Aero Tanks in San Bernardino California.

I have one-you can see the details in my 1 ton Panel thread.
