removing emissions
I have an 84 blazer all stock. 4wd, 305 4 barrell carb. 700r4 tranny. Engine runs well for a 305 but i dont need the emissions on it. Does anyone have a rundown on what and how to remove the emissions and re-route vacuum and what all to plug up?

in most states its illegal to remove emission controls from a vehicle
I believe you only have the EGR, AIR pump and the Cat tho

Yup only those 3 and hardlines going to the exhsust manifolds. I am mainly wanting to know how to reroute the vacuum system

Just chase any existing lines back to where they start and cap them off with a plug. If it goes to a T or something, remove the T and put a straight connection in.

Be carefull what you plug off!
If your tranny has a lockup convertor it's vacuum controlled. |

It isnt, but a lot of people would remove every vacuum line they could, thinking they are only there for emissions reasons.

Remove all the delay pots and nonsense between the distributor vacuum advance and the carburetor, hook the vacuum advance line to manifold vacuum (not "timed" or "ported" vacuum), and then set the base timing to 14-16 degrees BTDC. You might be able to go as high as 18-20, but if you get knocking, back it off 2 degrees. That will be the point where you get the best horsepower and mileage.

Good iformation. Now i have a weekend project. Should i plug the exhaust manifolds also?
