[Pic] C10 at Sac Raceway...

Just thought I'd share that. I didn't take it, but a friend of mine did. Pretty interesting front grille eh? He's also got a helmet, so it's gotta go faster than 14.0...and it looks like it has a cage...

The painted headlight bezels ruin the looks of the front end. The grille is just a billet grille but looks bad next to the headlights. Way too much black going on there.

Most tracks I have been to wont let you run if you have shaved handles.

Now that I look at it again, it is chopped. I knew something didn't look right. I almost hate to say this because someone will come in here and flame my ass off, but I just don't care for it.

I guess whoever built the thing thought it looked good, but it's just not my cup of tea.

How about the skull and cross bones tag?

I agree with you Mike about the chopped top, I have never been a fan of that either. But I think what Tim is talking about the grill is that this is an 80 or older truck, notice the vertical side marker lights. Didn't all 80 and earlier trucks have round headlights?

Tim, this pic isn't recent is it? I thought Sac shut down through the winter until March?

I'd like to know what it runs. If it's fast enough, it don't matter if it's a little odd looking.

No, all 80 or older trucks didn't have round headlights. They came both ways in 80.

Some 80's models had round headlights, and some had square lights...80 was the only year with sguare headlights and verticle front side markers.

Those are stock 1980 headlight bezels painted black.

These trucks look crappy with chopped tops. The body lines look so good from the factory, messing with them always seems to make them look worse.

I guess there is one exception: I've never seen a filled cab roof seam I didn't like.

Update to an 87' front end w/ billet insert, 20's, new front license plate, and it wouldn't look too bad.

Thats a Sierra Classic / Silverado front end that was only found on the more expensive trim packaged GMC / Chevy trucks in 1980. I've got the same front end on my 3/4 ton. In my opinion, the front end looks like crap, the chrome looks a whole lot better. I personally prefer a stock GMC grill over the billet or Chevy grills.

For one, the truck is just straight up ugly...there is no way around that one

For two, it cant be that fast because that is not even close to a legal cage. So 12.00 is the fastest it can be...and I doubt it is that fast.

Is Sac Raceway an 1/8 mile track? If so, then the 600 on the window might actually mean/say 6.00 for his dial in.

I don't normally care for chopped tops either, but this one isn't too radical and it would look even better if the side wondows were converted to one-piece.

That grille almost looks like a old early 80's ford truck piece.

Also the chop is very mild and really isnt to noticable. I think it would look great on some nicewide 20's and sitting on bags!! Paint it and ditch the grille though.

i would do the same thing. with a little bit of tlc and about 2 grand, that could be a nice looking truck. i dont care for all the painted crap on the front.

Actually -- I don't think that is the stock grill on that above truck, the chevy ones that I've see have square holes in them, this one has rectangular holes... The rectangular holes look a whole lot better than the square ones for sure!

This is what a stock Chevrolet 1980 Silverado grill looks like, I think you'll agree with me, the GMC version is nicer

the pic that NV posted is an aftermarket grille, as that's the only way they're available without a bowtie.

if it were mine, i'd put an 85-87 single headlight clip on it, with a billet grille(no phantom) and add some "littles" up front. it already looks like it has the "bigs" out back. maybe a set of TTD's and a small cowl hood.
