67 327 stock timing chain/cover question

I have a 1967 327 275 hp car engine with a single chain from factory. It was original I think cause it had the nylon on the cam gear still. I am rebuilding the engine and I have a buddy who has a gm double roller in the gm box. He said I could have it for a very reasonable price but my concern is will it fit under my stock timing chain cover without rubbing of causing me grief. I don't want to change anything so if it doesn't fit I wont bother with it. anyone have info on this. Thanks, Rod.

For a stock application I would go with option "C" which is a good quality single roller steel chain. The double roller will probably fit OK, but is not necessary for a stocker-see how long the original lasted with a nylon gear.

I hear ya. wouldn't even question it but the the double chain is damn nears free. I assume that they put the nylon on to quiet the chain down? Is the nylon really needed?

You can get a stock (steel) timing set from AutoZone for $16. That is not very expensive. Yes, the nylon is to quiet it down. If you can get the double roller cheap, it is OK too.

Back a few years, put a double roller on a 69 350 s/b and didn't have any issues using the stock cover.
