Wood bed

Im going to be redoing the wood bed on my 1967 c10 and the wood is to rotted to know what the measurements are of it and was just wondering what they are

Ya there is way to much salt up here it ruins the classics and the cab mounts are still good just the bed mount is bad so i just might pull the bed off and run it just frame for the summer

I remember rust well. Grew up in NW Iowa. Moved to Arizona in '94. Was sporting wood for 2 solid weeks seeing all the unrusted classics! Brought my '76 K5 rustbucket out with me. Locals kept coming up to me wanting to know what happened?!?

Looks alot like mine when i first got it. Just an fyi be ready to replace/repair the cross sills also. Mine were shot. I ended up buying a parts truck and swapping out the bed(steel floor). It was alot cheaper. From the looks of it if you want original you will also need new bed slats to hold the wood down(those were cut up).

I was born and raised in oswego(in auburn now). I still go up that way with my truck(to sweet insprations in fulton on sats).

I know i gotta replace almost the whole bed pretty much all the slats are shot wheel wells and inner sides are wicked bad and i just might have to swing over there sometime and check yours out

where do we drill the holes in the wood boards? because i have the strip and bolt kit i just need the wood and everyone is telling me its not pre drilled

Are you trying to convert from a steel bed?

If you've already got the crossmembers from the wood bed you can just drill up the eight holes you need. Loosely get everything in position before you drill.

well thats is the problem lol when i got my truck the wood floor was gone so was the cross sections so i have just a bed box

i ordered me some wood from robert noe and its red oak pre cut and grooved and everything any tips on sealing the wood?

My 70 C-10's original bed was in bad shape too.

It needed all new cross members and a front bed panel.

The new wood is red oak with two coats of dark walnut stain to bring out the grain.

Finished with five coats of Marine Spar Varnish.

The cross members were attached to the frame from underneath.

The good news its a lot easier to fix the wooded floors.
