From "C to K" Evolution of my K-20

The truck is now near completion, so better late than never, here's some photos of some of the ordeal. I've owned this one for over 18 yrs and served me well. Wood hauler, rock, land fill, etc.
Being Overloaded snapped the trailing arms, so hence the makeover to the K-20 I've always wanted!

Re: From "C to K" Evolution of my K-20

Found a donor chassis from a 1970. Sm465, 205 transfer, all there for $350. I'm no fab guy really or body man for that matter. So I mainly just refurbish things to be as close to what they once were as best I can.
All new bearings seals, ball jts, ujoints, etc.. Has 4 in rough country lift springs.
This chassis also rolled off the Janesville assembly line.

Re: From "C to K" Evolution of my K-20

Found I had some welding to do.. Guessing this helped along the corroded fuse box and holes in the floor pan.

Thought that was cool. This was hand brushed on Under the green paint. Same number throughout the truck.

Re: From "C to K" Evolution of my K-20

The pic above ^^ shows my cab on milk crates. Nothing fancy, no concrete, not a lot of tools, one man show with a chain hoist can tear some stuff up!
I'll post more pics tomorrow. Thx for looking.

Ehhh that rot looks Scarry! Gonna be a sweet truck when done! Guessing the trailering arm was rusted due to it snapping?

Re: From "C to K" Evolution of my K-20

Yeah the trailing arm had a little more rust than I thought. Sheared brake lines, broke the torsion bar, shock absorber looked kind of like a horse shoe.. Wish I would have got a pic.

Re: From "C to K" Evolution of my K-20

New floor pan, supports, welded and patched holes. Cab corners and rockers I did around 5yrs prior. Glad I was able to grind out that filler and redo it. Coated inside and out on the floor pan with por-15.

Re: From "C to K" Evolution of my K-20

Switching gears here. Wiring had some corrosion in it with a couple broken spots. Had a spare I picked up and made one good one.

Re: From "C to K" Evolution of my K-20

Common practice was to blast parts and get them in primer, then put them in my basement until I needed them. This was done to keep from getting filthy in my shop.. For about 2yrs I had fenders, wood floor and anything else that would fit

Re: From "C to K" Evolution of my K-20

Made it to a buddy of mines paint booth. First base clear I've dealt with, seemed somewhat trouble free.

Some of the small and very time consuming things. Mainly saved these for bad weather.

Re: From "C to K" Evolution of my K-20

Looky what I found..
Bought these from a board member. Rancho brand. I just changed color, still not sure if I'm going to use them.
Here's my stainless they cut out at work. I was going to make exhaust with it, till I realized what a pain it is to work with. I traded it to a buddy for some work done.
