Dirty vents, AC, heater
Recently got a 70 GMC 402 longbed and doing "a little clean up." I just can't believe what I'm pulling out of the vents, heater box, AC system. From what I see, junk can go right through the cowl openings and either pelt you in the face with dirt and dust or accumulate in the passages along the way. What are you guys doing to prevent this? Check this out - these fenders and side vent areas were filled from bottom to top. Had to remove the cowl just to get started cleaning:

I got some screen for a house window, cut it to size and gorilla taped it on the inside of the cowl....after I cleaned mine out

Most vendors catering to these trucks have a sturdy mesh to prevent this, both in powder coat and stainless steel.

I believe this is what Lee H is talking about. I actually bought the stainless version to avoid rust and painted it black. I like it because it also hides that ugly hole.

Classic Industries and LMC have them. I think I've seen them on most vendor websites. Search "trash guard".
