292 in a 53 3100 Panel?
Ok, I have been over at the 67-72 Suburbans for a while but recently picked up a 53 panel and am thinking about swapping out the 216 (I think that is what I have) for a 292.
Anyone out there ever done this? Any thoughts from you guys that are more familiar with the 47-55 vintage? I have over the years been fascinated with 292 truck engines for some reason. I do not expect to drive my 53 long distances or at high speeds. Thanks for any tips. Oh and I already have the 292.

Re: 292 in a 53 3100 Panel?
Some one else here has done it. I don't know if they finished it or not and I'm starting one tomorrow. I'll post some pictures as I go. Assuming your using the stock rear cross member you need the cast iron bell for a Chevy V8 55 2nd up to 63. just make sure it didn't come from a truck with a hydraulic clutch. (60-61 i think) fork is on the right side on those. Rear mounts for a 55 to 63

Thanks for the information. I did look over some of the other threads. I am going to run with this and the information will be very useful.
