Removing Trailing Arm Crossmember?
Hey guys, I just wanted to see if anyone has ideas, tips, or tricks to getting the trailing arm crossmember out with the cab and bed still installed... Im trying to get mine out at the moment, but the top rivets seem to be giving me the most trouble... I have the member cut right down the center and I have one of the lower mounts removed and cut out.
What kind of tooling/technique worked for you??? Thanks a ton!

Since it doesn't appear that you are trying to save the crossmember you might think about trimming it down to more manageable pieces. Cut it so that all you are fighting are the rivets holding the top side to the top frame rail and go from there. Be careful though as a friend burned his shop down getting the floor of a truck he was working on too hot and caught the carpet on fire in it last week.

I removed mine with the body all still on. I cut as much as I could out so I would have easier access to the rivets. I used a grinder to grind off the rivets then a punch to pound them up from the bottom. No matter what it will be a major PITA.

i took a sawsall and cut the top ears off both sides, made a straight cut so it can be welded back together if necessary or needed...
