Won't start. Clean injectors or something else?

I just got my 5.3L finally wired up and ready for the first start today. The fuel pump comes on as it should, it turns over, and has spark but no start. We turned it over so many times that the battery finally died. It seems like it was getting better. Early on it would turn but not try to start. At the end it felt like it was starting to kinda catch on but never did.

The manifold I used has been sitting for a long time so the only thing we can figure is the injectors are just a little clogged. Should I just charge the battery and keep trying until it runs or do something else?

Thanks,
Jeff

My engine sat for 4 years, and I pulled the injectors and cleaned them- fired right off. You wouldn't believe the junk that came out of the rails!

You also might need to get a noid light and verify the injectors are getting power/firing.

Hi Jemo, a little carb cleaner down its throat should at least bring it to life briefly. That will verify that the only thing missing is fuel, and spark, etc is ok. I also suspect plugged injectors.

How do I clean the injectors, just take them out and soak in carb cleaner? Do all parts shops sell the o-rings for the injectors or are they dealer only items?

Yes. I got a mail order tune from Frost Tuning. He tuned another PCM for me.

Just check for spark and fuel. Put a extra spark plug on a wire and see if it sparks. Then pull a plug and see if it's wet. If u have spark and fuel but it won't fire then you have a sensor issue/wiring issue
