my 64 silver book says 4100-5000 for the 1/2 tons (dependant on engine and accessories), since its a shorty I am thinking 41-4400...

I believe these are GVW's, not curb weights.

Re: How much does a 1965 GMC weight

Tony,

Thanks for posting that info, very useful.

Just for reference a 2010 Silverado regular cab short bed small V8 curb weight is 4443, +1100 pounds over a similar 60-66.

My short step weighs just shy of 3600 with me in it, and 1/2 tank of fuel.

Do you know the curb weight of a 58 long bed fleetside 2wd vs a 72 and 80?

Re: How much does a 1965 GMC weight

I weighted my 61 short fleet with a V8 TH350 and it came it at 3680. With me in it. Nothing in the bed, but I have a 1/8 steel floor.

Re: How much does a 1965 GMC weight

I took a load of scrap steel in for sale. The empty weight of my 1965 C10 with 250 I6 (me off the scale) is 3460 lbs with 1/2 tank of gasoline.

Re: How much does a 1965 GMC weight

5000lbs gross weight.

FWIW; my '65 C-30 SRW 9' step with a bunch of crap, me, and a bunch of "aftermarket" (lol) steel plate lining the bed (and over the fenders) rolled through @ 4,950lbs. I figured the empty weight as it is was about 4,600lbs. 283/SM420. Picture below. (Didn't have the sideboards when I weighed it.) I subtracted all the weight from the added stuff and IIRC I came up pretty much with what GM said it should weigh.

You can pull up the GM books for your trucks there and see what the base listed weight is. (Also shows options, etc. Neat site.)

Hey, that was a cool pdf. to look at. Why didn't they mention the 305v6? Was that only in gmc or something? I noticed it was only Chevy.

Re: How much does a 1965 GMC weight

Yes, the 305 V6 was a GMC thing; I think some of the big V6's might have came (as an option) in some HD Chevrolet stuff IIRC, though.
