Gas Tank Seeping

I finally got the fuel sender working on my 61 Panel, and I was able to confirm that I am loosing fuel. It doesn't leak enough to drip, but it seems that its seeping from the tank. The previous owner fixed several pinholes in this tank.

Should I just replace the tank, or is there a solution to fix the one I have?

Tanks for these are so hard to find without spending hundreds on a custom built one.

There used to be a franchise called Mr Gas Tank that took an old tank, and coated it inside and out with some sort of epoxy (?) to seal it. I had this done on my 71 Pontiac over 20 years ago, and that tank still holds gas without a leak (and looks brand new). Try googling for something like "gas tank sealer" and see what you can find. Old fashioned Yellow Pages might help, too!

IMHO, a seeping gas tank presents the greatest risk of fire, even more so than a leak. The reason being is that what readily ignites are the fumes from gas. Seeping gas creates a great environment for the creation of fumes. Get rid of that tank! You're driving in a bomb that's ready to blow.

Replace it. You can't seal over rust.

A new tank is cheaper than a burned up truck. I put a new tank, sending unit and replace all rubber fuel lines in every truck I rebuild.

Replace all fuel filters too.

there is a sealer that I used on an 67 dually that i had and believe it was called POR 15. Check with your local auto parts store. It is a little bit of a process but my tank had lots of seeping pin holes and it worked great!
Only stuff I would ever use if I had another tank that needed sealing.

I ended up finding a Blazer tank kit today. I'm going that route.
