3rd Door Patch Panels

I don't think 3rd door patch panels are available. Talking about the rust repair panels that do the lower foot or so. Just adapt the the panels available for the front doors? Thanks

Re: 3rd Door Patch Panels

I've never done it, but I'm almost certain front door sheet metal can be cut and adapted. Good Luck.

Re: 3rd Door Patch Panels

if it works take pics and let us know. I don't understand why there isn't a supplier for 3rd doors yet.

Re: 3rd Door Patch Panels

Hoping to get to it this winter. The 3rd on my truck has so many weird little dents and creases that I think it will be easier to repair the one off my parts truck that is straight but has rust in the usual areas. I doubt the outside will be a huge iproblem, but I suspect the inner portion might be an issue. I haven't really dug into it yet too much. Since the 3rd door is obviously shorter any repair panel would have to be shortened somewhere since it appears the entire bottom of my door will have to be replaced. Hoping there is somewhere obvious to make the split. And hoping my welding skills are up to snuff. My poor squarebody has suffered through many hours and lots of wasted wire as I practiced...

Seems like the repair panels we really need are barn door patches and the rear floor under the 2nd seat. I emailed GMCPauls about the floor situation a few years ago and they mentioned a few things. The economy was so bad they didn't want to invest anything in it at the time. Plus they were concerned about how much demand there would be. Plenty I would think. And maybe the biggest was finding somebody who could make a high quality part that is as complex as that one. They said they don't carry some repair panels because the fit and quality are so poor.
