disc breaks and wheel clearance

I'm Just completed the disc break conversion from ECC on my 66 but I failed to read the small print about the original wheels not fitting. My wheels hit the new calipers. I wanted to keep the original wheels and the only solution seems to be to add a spacer? Has anyone used a 3/16 to 1/4" spacer and not replaced the lugs? If so does it leave enough thread?

Thanks for the help!!!

Re: disc breaks and wheel clearance

71-87 4x4 steel wheels will work with disc brakes.

I use 1/4" spacers for the same reason. In my case there was plenty of thread on the studs.

Re: disc breaks and wheel clearance

I used a small spacer and just a touch of of the grinder on my calipers to make my stock wheels fit.
