Mechanic Help Dallas TX

I have an all original 64c10 I purchased a yr ago that was running great up until 6 months ago. Had issues with the starter, replaced that, now having some more issues starting. I'm a young guy with not much mechanic experience, and getting in over my head. I'm looking for some help getting her running again. I live just north of Dallas in Denton area. I could pay a shop, but would rather pay someone to help me fix her up and I could learn a little in the process. Let me know if y'all know anyone in the area, i can't stand to see her collecting dust in my garage. Thanks

What do you mean by having trouble starting. Is it a starter issue or fuel or spark issue. If it is a starter issue just make sure ALL the grounds are clean and secure. Bad grounds can cause all kinds of problems.

There's a few key words here...it could be ignition problems, fuel problems, and since you just replaced the starter we'll eliminate that. Be nice to know...what engine you have? HEI or stk points? I have a feeling its ignition....but fuel could play just as much a role to. Need some pictures an more details.

Thanks for all the advice, mitchfloyd gave me a few things to get started with. I'll post some pictures and more info tonight when I'm home.
Anyone is welcome to help, I can always put my truck on a trailer and bring it someone for help as well. I will take all the help I can get. I just really want to get her running.

Re: Mechanic Help Dallas TX

Alright got her up and running again. Big thanks to MitchFloyd for all the help! The problem I am having now is once she runs for a bit and gets hot, I cant get her running again. It will start with turn of the ignition but as soon as I quit turning ignition sounds like she runs out of gas regardless of whether or not im giving her gas. Mitch suggested the timing which I have never done. Any other suggestions?

Re: Mechanic Help Dallas TX

Take the gas cap off and try running it that way for a bit.
Look down the carb with the key off and work the throttle. Do you see gas squirting in there?
Shoot some B12 down the carb and see if it fires.
