My 1950 Chevy "S-3100" Build (old+new)

Well I thought I would go ahead and start a new thread for my build, so I can keep track of everything all in one place. So here is goes.

I bid on a 1950 Chevy 3100 3 window short bed on Ebay and won for $535.00 I had to drive from California to Pinedale Wyoming to get it The truck came with an extra bed too. So here it is.

Re: My 1950 Chevy "S-3100" Build (old+new)

after a long long long long long turnaround trip out there. I got him home. Cleaned everything out of the truck, so I could see what rust areas I needed to fix/replace. I also picked up some good driver quality parts from a local guy down the street from me. Driver & Passenger door, front bumper, and grill.

Few days later I came home with this. 1996 Chevy S10 4.3L V6 standard cab long bed truck with a 5-speed manual transmission. Stole is for $550 I plan on using the 5 speed out of this truck, since it will bolt right up to my 350 chevy small block.

Re: My 1950 Chevy "S-3100" Build (old+new)

Next up was a trip to the junk yard to pull a rear end out of a 99 bravada. its a wider rear end, disc brakes, 3.73 gear with a limited slip. And it will pretty much bolt right in.

Some of my new parts started to roll in the last few days. Also been talking to Chris "Skymangs" about the body swap and decided to order a set of his series 2 cab mounts to help me speed up the changeover.

Re: My 1950 Chevy "S-3100" Build (old+new)

Here are a few pictures of the mild built SBC350 that will be going in the truck. The NV3500 5 speed will bolt right to it. Also will be using all the front mounted accessories from the 4.3L V6 from the s10 on the small block as well, PS,AC,ALT ect ect.
Engine is a 350 out of a 73 truck, 4 bolt main, with a holley 670 street avenger,Billet MSD, RPM performer manifold, mild roller RV camshaft, roller rockers, CCP pistons. Should be a very nice driver!!

Re: My 1950 Chevy "S-3100" Build (old+new)

Kinda not liking the way the 2010 Camaro RS wheels fit. They look a little to far in. I think I need something with a bit more deep dish.

Re: My 1950 Chevy "S-3100" Build (old+new)

Im trying to figure out what wheel size, offset and backspacing to use with the S10 chassis under there. Im using the Awd disc brake rear end but the S10 2WD front. Im thinking about the 20" Camaro SS wheels with a 2" spacer/adapter up front and a 1" in the rear. But I dont know if that will hit the fenders.

Re: My 1950 Chevy "S-3100" Build (old+new)

From what I have been able to calculate and don't hold me to this, first time trying but an 8 inch wide rim with 2 3/4 inch back spacing should work on the front end without a spacer

Re: My 1950 Chevy "S-3100" Build (old+new)

And I think a 10 inch wide rim looks awesome but I think a mini tub would have to be installed and I don't want tubs in the bed

I like the look of the Camaro rims. Here is a picture or them on mock up, the truck belongs to member Stockish. I don't believe he ended up using them though.
