Re: Banjo bolt torque

I don't know if there is a torque value or not for banjo bolts. I just tighten them, sometimes the washers don't seat correctly and tightening them more cures it, sometimes I have to use a different pair of copper washers to get them to seal. I'm probably wrong but I always tighten as necessary, have never measured a torque value for them. Keep in mind to use common sense, don't use a long bar to tighten which could possibly break them.

Re: Banjo bolt torque

my gm factory service manual lists 22ft lbs for flex hose to caliper// it is located in with the brake specs

Re: Banjo bolt torque

Hey guys, I know this is old but whole trying to bleed the calipers today from my cpp kit, I couldn't get one of the copper gaskets to seal against the caliper and I wound up snapping the banjo bolt in half while tightening it trying to get it to seal. Went to napa and got a new bolt and copper washers but haven't tried getting it yet.

The second pic shows the caliper side gasket. It appears to be squished to a taper.

Wanted to get your expertise.

Re: Banjo bolt torque

By the looks of the washer I'd say the hole in the caliper is not square with the casting

Re: Banjo bolt torque

That's what I think as well. Now I have to wait until cpp is open. Hopefully they aren't closed Monday for Labor Day.

Thanks for the reply.
