Another new guy...with an old truck

Greetings all, have been lurking for a couple years and signed up to this great forum a while back, wanted to say howdy and show you a few pics of my project.

Here is my 67 GMC SWB. It was originally a 6cyl/3-on-the-tree...I am in the process of converting to V8/4-on-the-floor.

Some specs:

Mildly warmed over 383 stroker w/Street Dominator intake, Edelbrock-Carter AFB, import HEI, angle dump ramhorns, mini starter

Saginaw cast-iron 4 speed w/Hurst shifter

Heartbeat 2 1/4" exhaust system kit (in progress) w/Flowmaster clone mufflers

Rally wheels w/GMC center caps and trim rings.

I have the V8 installed in the 6 cyl mounting position and that has presented a few challenges, but nothing I haven't been able to get around so far..

Anyways, questions and comments are welcomed. I've learned a TON from you guys on this forum but still have a BUNCH of questions.

Welcome to the forum. You're among friends here, but you've probably already figured that out.

Not normally a green fan, but I like the color on your truck.

Thanks sstaten69. Haven't been to your neck of the woods for quite a while, closest was probably Salem, last year.

It is running but still a lot of detail work left to do...plug wire re-routing, fuel line, etc.

And I am just running about 4' of exhaust pipe off the manifolds for now till I get the rest of the system built. Sounds pretty healthy as is though.

Thank you sir. I have seen a color fairly close to mine on some old Buicks and Pontiacs, not even sure what mine is called.

Thanks for the welcome kcsa75, among friends indeed. I can (and have!) spend/spent hours here just looking at pics of the incredible trucks on this forum.

Green is not my favorite either but the truck was painted this color when I bought it and it's really grown on me since I got it.

Nice truck! I'd pull the cluster and paint it like original or something (unless I'm just iggerent and that's actually stock for 67). Love the steering wheel in those, they look so much cheaper by 1970.

Thanks Dave. I don't know if that is the stock finish for the cluster or not, maybe one of the 67 gurus on here can let us both know?

I did buy another cluster just for the temp gauge, the original one had the needle broken off. The one I put in is a lot more faded on the face than the others though.

Small world, as they say.
What's your plans for it?
I put a Muncie close ratio 4 speed in my old 78 Chevy stepside and had a blast with it. I used to love to row through the gears. Now days I'm comfortable with an automatic that bumps pretty good.

Thanks Tommy. Like that blue on your truck, if I ever get to pick a color for a future truck it would be real close to that blue.

Plan on getting it to the point where I can start hitting some of the local cruise-ins, then maybe a road trip or 2. I have had it over 10 years, stored it inside, finally got to where I have some time to work on it.

If I really get motivated in a year or 3, I would like to pull the body and do a ground up clean, paint and restore. I think it's a good candidate for it, very little rust anywhere.
