Re: other frame option for s10

Bartman has a build on here. Not sure if he got it done, as he had some medical issues pop up, but up until then it was a pretty informative build.

here's the link...

Re: other frame option for s10

The S10 frame has a factory splice near the door area. It's where they made the length changes for the different model wheelbases. It's a natural spot to shorten (or lengthen) the frame. Cut the welds and simply telescope the rear portion of the frame into the front section.

Re: other frame option for s10

just get a shortbed s10 and cut off the last 11 inches of frame, flip it over, move the front leaf perches back by drilling out the rivets, and you will have a long bed chassis. There are a lot of positives for doing it this way too, it lowers the rear about 2 inches, the leaf spring perches arent the lowest part of the frame any longer, and it gives you some much needed space to move the gas tank off the ground too.

This isnt my tip, I got it from a local guy who also belongs to this forum. I used it on my 65 on s10 chassis and it worked perfectly.

Okay, here's the link for how to lengthen the short cab/box frame by reversing the rear spring perches:

What if you planning to bag it? Then leaf perches don't matter am I right?

depends. most s10 rear link kits bolt into the factory perches. which is one of the benefits I talked about, that some link kits require you to move the perches back a couple inches so the bars dont drag on the ground.

if you are using a universal link kit, then perches dont matter.
