windshield wiper mechanism

I am putting my windshield wiper mechanism back together and was wondering if it matters which arm goes on which side? They appear to be the same to me. Not the wiper arm but the rods that are under the cowl that connect the motor to the blades. I took photos of how it all goes together but was wondering if the rods are different.

Re: windshield wiper mechanism

can i give you a good tip..triple and quadruple check that they are all on there correctly and working right before you assemble it. I did not have any of the parts, so I went hunting at scrap yards. I was told by the guy at the scrap yard how they went together. Turns out, he missed one little part. i figured that i had it all together, i checked the drivers side and it was working right, so it must be in there right...well....not quite. The wiper on the passenger side did a great job of wiping DOWN instead of UP. took all the paint off my cowl, and mangled the arm pretty bad. so I called the guy at the scrap yard, and he says 'oh ya, i realized after you left that I forgot to give you one part". Lesson learned i guess, check, check, and check some more. I'm pretty sure the arms are the same, but double check. Make sure you have that little link in there that connects the two arms together.
