What's it worth?? 50th Anniversary Truck

Hey Guys, I recently looked at what I understand to be a 50th Anniversary truck. It is gold and white with the custom set-up. Options are:
327 v-8
400 turbo trans
gold and white two tone exterior
gold interior (vinyl- white bench seat with gold inlays)
white vinyl door panels-- gold visors & seatbelts
paint code is 551
116,000 original miles
I recently saw a thread posted by someone with their thoughts on a 50th Anniversary truck and this truck matches everything they said. The only problem is I can't remember who posted the thread. I know he said he owns or has owned 2 of these trucks.

Would someone help me to find out who that was, please?? Also, what does anyone think this truck is worth?? The only rust on the truck is the rockers . Outside of that the rest of the truck is rust free!
Any response is appreciated. I went ahead and bought this truck, but haven't decided what to do with it yet... No pics.

I don't know that it being a 50th really adds to the value of any other 68 truck all that much.

It sounds like a pretty nice original truck.

Does it have AC?

Is it a Custom or CST? (It should be at least a Custom)

Power steering, Power Brakes?

Any other rare options? Speedwarn, Tach and such?

These will effect the value of it more than being a 50th IMO.

What shape is it in mechanically? Is the 327/400 tired?

to look for speedwarning, take a glance at the speedo...if there is a white line that radiates out from where the speedo needle attaches, and if there is a small knob to the left and above the speedo (not the headlight knob), then it has speed warning. basically you set it to whatever MPH you want, and when you hit it, it will start to buzz. they're pretty rare and fetch some good $$.

hey randy, yeah, the ice storm really bites..I'm going to go and get it sometime by next sunday. This is definitely a truck worth saving and not parting out. the only bad part is the rockers. the rest of the truck is very, very straight. It's the best I've seen here in the midwest that is unmolested.

Not the e-bay item. But it's one that looks alot like it. The one I bought has all the correct codes and items on it. The only thing that's wrong on the one I bought is someone has changed the mirrors and the rear bumper. Outside of that the rest of the truck is completely original and untouched.

Here is an ad for the 50th. You should have paint code 551 and interior code 625 if it is a 1/2 ton or it will show 626 if it is a 3/4 ton. Post some pics.

Those numbers in there seam a little high to me, if so I'm selling my 71 GMC short 4X4 for less than 1/2 of what it is worth. It says the C-30 I have is worth $3600?? I was also using the low retail too

Yeah dtlilly, I figured the numbers were pretty high to but I know for a fact that these are the numbers that alot of insurance companies use to evaluate vehicle value.
As far as to what an actual dealer uses I'm not sure, but I would assume they use the same methods. That is of course if the vehicle is worth selling. If the vehicle is in rough shape a dealer usually sells the trade ins that aren't worth selling to auction. These types of vehicles including classics are usually worth crap, so NADA would not apply.

bow-tie-bandit, are you sure that the custom seat is supposed to be the one with cloth inserts? (the reason why I ask is because I went and drove the truck home today) I talked to the guy some more about the truck and he confirmed that no one has changed anything on it except for the mirrors and the rear bumper... The truck has the seat which you are saying is the cst seat. Either way it was definitely worth the money I spent on it...Truck purred like a kitten all the way home.. Now I'm thinking I might end up selling my 69 Cheyenne-- Don't know for sure if I should do that or not. It's just the 50th drove like a dream all the way home.... thanks again for all your help.. Shane

Shane is your truck the CST (custom sport truck) or the Custom model. I have only seen the vinal type seats in the CST (buckets and bench). Maybe the custom model comes factory with the cloth inserts and a customer can upgrade to the vinal type I dont know for sure. Anyway it sounds like you found a good truck, there are a bunch of good threads on 50th trucks just use the search and enter 50th anniversary, 50th, etc. Longhorn Man also has a good site worth checking out.

bow-tie-bandit, the more I keep digging into this particular truck I'm beginning to believe it is a CST ( custom sport truck ) that's due to all the information I have received from you and all the other members on the board. I believe it's supposed to have the sport bumper on the rear due to the fact that there is extra metal on the bedsides ( what I believe to be stoppers for the rear bumper). It has the custom badges on the door at the center of the window( same place as the 69 cst badges were at If I recall correctly it being the 69 truck ). And after your last entry I now beleive it's a CST Anniversary Edition Truck... Let me know your thought on this please....I noticed that you list a C-20 50th in your list of trucks you have. If nothing else if you would shoot me a pic of the door on your truck then I could tell for sure exactly what mine is.. Thanks ,Shane
