I used a one-wire alternator myself..... worked for about a month, but then I started having a near dead battery more & more often.

I got tired of having a dead battery every two weeks just from sitting. The local alternator guy in town said there was nothing wrong with my alternator, but he replaced parts free of charge anyways.

Unfortunately, I still had the same issue. Damn alternator was staying "live" even when the engine wasn't running. I went to a traditional 3-wire alternator per mad electrical instructions and never had another issue!
