Is this a highly optioned truck???

Would this be considered a high option 1971 Chevy truck?
Thx,

T.C.

It would be considered a decently optioned pickup, if that was the original glovebox sticker. Something about it looks very fake to me. The font looks very off.

The edges of the descriptions that are cut off - like the air conditioning, storage box should be the maximum right of the letters, and with the below eyeline mirror line going 1 letter more than the tool and stowage box, which if it had one more letter to give would have the x on the end. It just throws up a ton of red flags for me.

Not a high option, but decent none the less. It doesn't appear to be an original tag as the font for the lettering doesn't look right. It does look like someone may have been trying to recreate an original tag rather than creating a high option pickup. Some of the others that have been modified are a funny with the amount of errors they make.

Oh, and the "Cheyenne super truc". That's a giveaway. It should be "Cheyenne Equipment". I don't think Chevy tried to ever type "truck" or "truc" on any of them.

Could it be that different discriptions were used for the options from dealer to dealer or plant to plant? Truck looks to be unmolested to me, but I'll ask to make sure.

Well, no mention is made of the tilt wheel option (it's not part of the Cheyenne" package by default) and no truck tilt wheel ever left the factory in any color other than black.

It's a nicely optioned truck however

This is not a "knit pick" or "rag" on this truck but is the seller passing this off as an unmolested original? If so, then:

The stowage box cover and hinges should match the lower body color (olive) and the fiberglass box itself should not be painted either.

Nice touches but not unmolested.

thx for the help

picking apart

It is always my first instint to pick apart restored trucks too. Inside of tool box should be black, gun rack holes, etc. but question was "is this a high option truck?". I would say is a nicely optioned cheyenne super "looking" truck, more options than most. Depending on price and body condition it may be a dandy.

But... unless soemone is claiming unrestored or factory original truck then to each his own. This is obviously a restored truck, done the way we may or may not build one and should have extra caution used in evaluating truck. I always look at a restored truck to see if it is done close to the way I would build one. I hate to buy someones elses work if it isn't my style and then try to redo it. Consiquently I have usually ended up with clean 1 owner or few owners trucks in unrestored condition because I am picky and don't want to pay restored prices for truck I wouldn't have build that way.

The first thing I ask and then check with glovebox sticker being redone is cab and frame vins. Again this can be done right but hidden issues may be lurking too.

IMHO!!

Was the tool storage offered on either side of the truck? My dad's 72 had it on the drivers side. It's still in use in my home town and I see the old rustbucket a couple times a year. Last time by I remember the big gapping hole where the tool box used to be.

I have never seen or heard of a factory tool box on the drivers side, always on the passenger side.

here is a link to mine.....

looks allot like Castiron9

you can also see the original build sheet which has everything.

http://www.noscade.com/longblack/pages/1.htm

That is a nice truck. The woodgrain looks new? mine does not list Brake Boo, but my truck has it?

How much are they asking?

Wasn't the cheyenne super a 72 only?
It is a sweet truck, but I agree that it is not what the seller may be passing it off as.
