Fresh Air Vent Swap

I was curious if anyone had swapped a 67-72 fresh air vent into the 60-66 to eliminate the big loop handle from the foot well? I was wondering if they swap in easily

Re: Fresh Air Vent Swap

Do you have a pic of the newer style of the vents?

Here is a pic of the newer style vents, looking directly at the D/S vent. In stead of having the looped handle swing outward into the foot area, you just pull the handle towards you and it opens. Much less intrusive operation

Re: Fresh Air Vent Swap

I think the 60-62 style bolt in (can't confirm) and operate via dash cable.

Almost, you need to cut a slot for the cable and figure a way to mount the handles below the dash. I did this mod and remember it well because as I was mounting the handle below the dash, the ratchet slipped and broke my front tooth. How dumb, a 1200 dollar lesson on never pulling a ratchet toward my face. Edit: another thing about the early ones, I thought it would be good to lube the cables really well with WD40, but it made them operate so smoothly that the force of the wind blowing against them cracks the vent open creating wind noise. I would not do this mod again even if it didn't cost me a tooth.
