72 Re-decal the Door panel insert woodgrain
I had the common scuff and scrapes on the woodgrain on both door panels, $21.95 and a half hour on each panel it turned out fairly nice. The small outlined raised edge I left covered and I might cut and expose later...

Re: 72 Re-decal the Door panel insert woodgrain
Yes, Vinyl Adhesive backed from Metro Restyling on there ebay store.
It is Cheyenne Teak WOODGRAIN VINYL Sheet Adhesive Backed and the size is 30" x 36" and you can do 3 door inserts. I had to get a larger sheet due to which way the grain runs. They have many, many wood grains but this was my choice. It's alittle lighter than the original but looks very nice.. |

Looks great. A person with really steady hands (like a pinstriper/sign painter) could paint that raised rib silver.

Re: 72 Re-decal the Door panel insert woodgrain
Them look awesome. I have a question/request for you though. Is there any way that you could provide some info and possibly pictures of how the inserts are attached to the door panel. I am planning on adding a set to my door panels which were not originally equipped with them. My panels have the chrome trim ring in the same shape as the inserts, but no inserts. Any pictures and tips/info would help me out.

The inserts are basically held on by nail style pins that go through the main panel and bent over. The pins go through elongated holes and acouple smaller round holes for a true alignment

Also I used a hairdryer to help stretch the outside corners, and it also helped the inside corner too. But be careful and don't melt it, wisk it on and off the product and not directly and steady on it.

Re: 72 Re-decal the Door panel insert woodgrain
Original 70s era 3M di-noc.
The metro restyling vinyl is good quality but is really orange toned in person. You did a good job though on them. 3M 94 primer helps stick on anything rounded off. A sharp hand with a fresh exacto would get your silver edges back. Trevor
