ok guys, every time I ask about a 5 speed I get random suggestions like "just get a t56" or "just buy a gear venders o/d" I really am just looking for a list of transmissions I can search for that are 5 speed with o/d

here's what I have so far:
t5
wct5
nv4500
nv3500

any other suggestions would be apreciated.

Don't rule out the Jeep AX15 or the Toyota Supra Turbo R154 5 speeds.(basically the same trans) There is an adapter kit available to bolt them up to the Chevy bellhousings and they are supposed to be a pretty stout manual 5 speed. The adapter is a little pricey but it is milled and the kit comes with a GM bellhousing locator/throwout sleeve and mounting hardware.

I bought the kit and I have a Jeep 2WD AX15 trans, and I ended up putting it in my '34 Ford Coupe behind a Chevy 377 Stroker motor...

The Novak one is $32.10 plus $15 shipping and the Dennymac one was $28 shipped when I bought mine.

So in your picture, what is the bell housing off of? a sm460/465?

No problem. Not a bad price compared to some of the bell housings. It has some CNC work done to it.

The bell housing is off of a later Chevy V-8, it doesn't have the cross member mount bosses on it. Any Chevy bell housing will work with the adapter so you can mount it by the bell housing mounts or the rear trans. mount.

Theres the old getrags too, the pre nv3500/nv4500. The 3500s are known to have some issues, but the 360s are ok I believe?

You can find late model nv3500s occasionally, they came behind the 4.8 vortecs. They are supposed to be pretty beefy. Stay away from the s10 stuff though cause the shifter is 8" back.
